What bouquets are best given in winter

Winter with its cold weather, snow-covered trees and lawns is no reason to refuse bouquets with fresh flowers. On the contrary, they should be given to oneself and others more often in order to maintain vivacity and good mood, when it is cold outside, it gets dark early. Modern floristic technologies have developed so much that at any time of the year you can buy exotic and off-season plants, but nature “takes its own” and not all flowers tolerate frosts, transportation. To make the bouquet look spectacular, keep freshness for a long time and delight in winter, you need to choose the right plants for it and know how to care for them.

FLOWERS AND GREEN SUITABLE FOR WINTER
Flowers in winter For winter bouquets, it is recommended to select flowers that are resistant to cold. In order for the composition to stand longer, you should abandon freesias, irises, alstroemerias, which are afraid of frost and wither at sudden changes in temperature. Longer than other colors, keep fresh in the cold:

roses of frost-resistant varieties with dense buds, thick stems – delicate bush inflorescences and petals may not withstand the cold;
ranunculi and anemones are hardy, winter flowers with a special charm and beauty;
chrysanthemums (including small, bush), gerberas and carnations – they are not afraid of cold weather and are universally suitable for different occasions;
lilies, chamelacium, dark calla lilies and so on.
Greens should also be selected taking into account the cold weather and the “winter” design. For example, in cineraria, the leaves have a smoky gray hue, with it the bouquet looks like dusted with snow. Brunia with its silver balls will make the composition festive, decorative, and catchy, red berries of hypericum will add bright colors and will endure even severe frosts.

As greens in winter bouquets, florists actively use conifers. In particular, spruce “paws” are appropriate as a New Year’s decor. To emphasize the theme of the main winter holiday, boxes of white cotton and dark red roses will also help. They combine beautifully with dark, saturated greens – eucalyptus, ruscus, trifer, lapnik. You can add bright colors on winter days with gerberas, rich chrysanthemums, unusual blue roses or blood red anemones and carnations.

HOW TO SAVE A BOUQUET IN FROST
If you like not only frost-resistant, but also undemanding flowers, do not rush to refuse them in the winter. If you approach the transportation and care of the composition correctly, you can preserve its freshness for a long time and protect delicate buds and leaves from wilting.

Choose your flowers carefully. The longer the stem, the denser the bud, the longer the specimen will remain fresh. On the leaves should not be creases, damaged, dark areas. Check that the cut of the flower is green, fresh, without plaque. Before you put the bouquet in a vase, it is worth cutting the plants again and removing the leaves, leaving only the cuttings in the water.

Flowers in winter To maintain the correct temperature conditions:

choose compositions in protective packaging – multilayer paper, thick cellophane, baskets, hat boxes and drawers with sponges soaked in water of the right temperature, a means to prolong the freshness of flowers;
buy bouquets in a professional store with fast delivery – florists work in rooms with optimal temperature, and couriers transport flowers by transport, minimizing the time that the plants spend in the cold;
Do not remove the packaging from the bouquet immediately after entering the warm room – let it stand closed for 20-30 minutes, so that the plants gradually get used to the temperature;
do not immediately put flowers in the water – wait half an hour, and add a little sugar or a special agent to the vase.
If the flower has a soft stem, cold water is suitable for it, plants with hard cuttings stay fresh longer in warm. The last recommendation is that the bouquet does not freeze, it is better to put it away from the windowsill, the front door.
